Wow, what a hard concept to undertake. In today’s busy world of motherhood, friendship often takes a backseat. With insightful and honest examples of her own trial and error with adult friendships, we see how it is always a work in progress. From her time of being an actress we learn that Lisa was not close to people and would often make superficial friends. How often in life do we ourselves make superficial friends? With each season of life our friends would change, or fall away. Sometimes, we find friends who are not right for us and we have the emotional let down and hurt to go through. It’s not just the old “to have a friend, be a friend” concept. Women need things from their friendships and with this book you are able to identify some ways in order to address those needs in a loving and caring way. Lisa takes you in deep with her struggle to find “safe” friends, something that we all need. I struggle with this daily, I can’t seem to make friends or even work on the relationships that are in place at the moment. As it states in the bible,we are to be relational to one another, the old teach the young. In today’s society, we are so far from that. This book helps bridge the gap and gives you practical things to work from. It is a book worth reading and keeping, but most of all its worth passing on to another “friend”.

What an endearing story of the spirit of God. This book was an impulse request, but I thought I have two children who love to read and so I got it. But this book was not like others that we have read, it has the Faith Imprint. This allows you and your child to talk about the book and what God means to the child. This is a story about the faith of a child and how she uses that faith to bring a friend to Jesus. As it says in the bible, we are to all have the faith of children, but as we grow we sometimes lose that and put up barriers. But this story is a reminder that if we keep showing the love of Jesus to people , He will do the work in His time. Simple Easter traditions as with simple everyday things we do, God uses those times for His benefit. The simple act of picking flowers, or taking a bowl of soup, or helping in the yard, these things are Gods love working through us to show others about Him. This book will become a treasure in our collection that we will read again and again.

I am an avid fan of Elvis and find it hard to believe that I was alive when he was although it was a short 5 years. I have read alot about Elvis and his life and have come to the conclusion that each of the people who have written a book have done so for either a personal gain or really wanted to tell the story. This book delves into a portion of his private life that I have not read about, his inner sanctum so to speak. Dr. Nick gives us perspective that only he could give. Elvis was to the excess, he could get what he wanted when he wanted, we of the average world could not imagine that possibility. Dr. Nick shows us in his book that Elvis was a very loving and caring person who was spoiled to a point, as we would all become if we had his celebrity. But deep down I believe that Dr. Nick was trying to help and heal Elvis, not use him as a “cash cow” so to speak. Because once the person was gone, the money that flowed would be gone as well. While reading this book, I understood that Elvis worked VERY hard, I can only imagine what he felt like and what he would do in order to feel good. I know that myself approaching the age that Elvis was at death, that I don’t feel like entertaining a massive amounts of people on a nightly basis for weeks on end or years on end. The drug issue was never a problem for me, I mean who in the entertainment industry doesnt do some sort of drug? But that aside, Elvis was an unhealtly person who had access to lots of medication that he shouldnt have had, and Dr. Nick tried to help him, to stop the drug flow from other people. It was a battle that was not win-able, not even close, but the end was inevitable. No one wanted to believe that it was a heart attack, Elvis was the King, he couldnt just die so suddenly. But he was sick, and medical technology was not on his side, yes Dr. Nick could have overprescribed, but I think that he done so as he said, for the entourage of people that were hanger ons and band members. The state of TN and media wanted someone to pay for the death of Elvis and Dr. Nick was the candidate that fit that bill. He has paid dearly, with the loss of his life work, something that he loved so much to do. Gone, just like Elvis

From the beginning of the book Dr. Emerson Eggerichs hits the nail on the head so to speak. In shades of pink and blue he describes the differences of men and women and gives you tools to help in the art of communication. This has been a touchy subject among many married couples and has caused many divorces I am sure. With this book we learn that “Without love, she reacts without respect.” “Without respect, he reacts without love”, so they both lose. With scriptures Dr. Eggerichs guides us through the strange and often painful road map of communicating with the one that you love. We must learn to choose the correct words that will lift up our spouse with love or respect. This book will help you get off the crazy cycle that keeps turmoil going in your marriage, and help you get to the rewarded cycle. Although as with all human things, there will be times when we slip into our old ways, but with this book and the steps found in it, you will realize and fix the problem before it gets out of hand. This book will also help you to understand your spouses heart and therefore draw you closer to each other as you read this book along with your daily reading of the best book, The Bible.

This is the alpha and omega of the Circle series. You can start with this book or you can end with this book. This book chronicles the life of Thomas Hunter and his family. You are introduced to the Horde, Eramites, Circle followers and Ba’al. It goes along with good and evil, sacrifices and choices. This is generally not a book that I would have chosen to read as I am not into the fantasy books, but it was interesting. Mr. Dekker takes you between two worlds, the here and now, the world that we are familiar with, and then a world of fantasy. Where people have a skin disease and evil is so open and vivid, and that the good people who choose to follow God have to stay hidden to stay safe. It takes you on a journey of what most people deal with daily, a rebellious child, different religions among family, choices between what is right and wrong. Thomas must make choices that affect not only him and his family, but also all of those who follow him. It is almost like Moses, how God tells Moses to take his people to the promised land. They wander and doubt, as do the albinos. But in the end Good always conquers Evil. I would recommend this if you like science fiction or fantasy type books.

In this book we get to see what blessings that two people who are on a life journey that started with just a Texas woman wanting to make a difference. Two of the most unlikely people to ever form a bond of strong faith and friendship that has blessed so many. They continue to carry on the work of this treasured person who God told to be His hands and feet in an area that was so totally different from anything that they had ever known. Not only do you read of the the work that Denver and Ron are doing, but you also see that other people are beginning to also be the hands and feet of God. As Denver so elegantly puts it in the book, God is looking at us not just through the eyes of our pastor, or Sunday school teacher, but through eyes of everyday people. Making a difference in someone’s life is always available to us, it’s up to us what kind of difference is made, good or bad. This story reveals to us that it’s not just the homeless that we can make a difference for, but for everyone that we come in contact with on a daily basis. Where do you want God to put you? With the sheep or the goats? Use your hands and feet to be those of God.

Have you ever wanted to just start over? Just forget the past and start fresh, well that’s what this enlighting book will help you to do. I found that reading this book it answered alot of questions of why I kept doing the same things over and over. With this book you can work through your problems and learn new techniques to use in everyday life to help each day have a fresh start. We are messy people and God uses messy, broken, stuck people all the time to help teach others, we were made for community, not to be alone. To use our experiences to let others know that they are not alone. Understanding that keeping close to God in his word and through prayers, all things will work for the best. To me the old saying of “God helps those who help themselves” was an underlying theme in the book, we have to “cooperate” and let God do his work through us. Be open to the opportunities that are put in our path and let God truly have his way in our lives. Be willing to jump out of your comfort zone and understand that your past is your past, if you ask God to forgive it, its gone. Just like that.

Perspective-do we have perspective? Or should I say do we have the right perspective? In this book you meet different people who are going through a “crisis” in their lives. Some are hopeless, some are beyond caring, some just cant believe their situation. But in each life they meet a person who changes their perspective on things. Who points out things that were not seen by the naked eye, but was right there in plain sight. In all of life we wish that we had someone to point out the things that we can t see for the nose on our face. This is an endearing story of how a group of people who are living their everyday lives but fail to notice the things that could make their life so much better. In each of the lives that the noticer encounters, lives are changed. They begin to see with a whole new perspective of what their lives could be like. You will be weaved into the lives of these people of this town and you will leave with a feeling of being glad that you were able to meet them and to know that your life isnt that different from others. Its all in your perspective.
